Today Pennsylvania’s borders are under threat from invaders from the north. They want to take away good U.S. Senatorial jobs from people who actually live in the state and superimpose a convoluted set of policies upon the decent citizens of this Commonwealth.
Just read “Dave on the Issues”. You can find it on the website of Pennsylvania’s Republican senatorial candidate from that great state of Connecticut - Dave McCormick - if you doubt the veracity of the statements from the previous paragraph. After he disparages Bob Casey for giving “illegal immigrants taxpayer-funded federal benefits,” McCormick then denigrates the senator for voting against Kate’s Law, which would keep those returning “scofflaws” in federal prison for up to ten years. In other words, he wants the federal government to support them for up to a decade with our tax dollars.
Under the heading of “Second Amendment”, McCormick tells us that “prosecutors like Philadelphia’s Larry Krasner have to enforce the laws we have on the books. It’s unacceptable that some of the cities with the most stringent gun laws have the highest violent crime rates because of a lack of enforcement by liberal prosecutors.” Apparently, this nutmegger is unaware that no municipality in the state – including Philadelphia - can enact its own gun laws. Instead, we are subject to a uniform set of state regulations that are at least partially responsible for two of the most notorious mass killings in the country this century: The assaults on the Pittsburgh’s Tree of Life Synagogue in 2018; and the West Nickel Mines Amish School in 2006, where 10 girls, aged 6 – 13 were shot. Six girls died, and four were wounded. But McCormick blames defunding the police (which never occurred) and Larry Krasner for such acts of violence.
In his “Inflation & the Economy” section McCormick reminds us that “Under Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, everything costs more…” which is true since inflation rarely holds steady or decreases. But to overlook the fact that the rate of inflation diminished so precipitously after the signing of the Inflation Reduction Act
Monthly Inflation (numbers in percents)

is to ignore reality.
McCormick’s big plans to energize Pennsylvania’s economy is to drill for gas and then use that energy to mine for cryptocurrency. Although he claims that “We need market-driven solutions” to solve our energy problems, he maligns Casey for supporting cap-and-trade policies, which are, in fact, market-driven solutions. McCormick tells us that cap-and-trade would cost Pennsylvania tens of billions of dollars and half a million jobs, when Connecticut’s participation in the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI) cap-and-trade program had brought over a quarter of a billion dollars into the state over a 12 year period. That state has also added 3,500 new, clean energy jobs since 2015. If McCormick doesn’t know what’s going on in his own state, how does he expect to help the residents of Pennsylvania?
“Dave on the Issues” is definitely worth reading, if only to see how McCormick can consistently defend two opposing points of view simultaneously.
Dave McCormick last held a federal position as the Under Secretary of the Treasury for International Affairs (2007 – 2009), working under Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson. It was during their watch that America experienced The Great Recession. Do we really want to trust McCormick with another federal position again – especially with a position so close to home? Our home that is?
