Now, back to our Newsletter...
PNN’s mission is to engage, educate and empower our neighbors to make our City a better place to live. Here’s what’s coming up in each of these areas:
Engage: 11 Days Until Election Day - Do Your Part
Educate: New Play, Article on Prison Oversight
Empower: Project Your Vote, Canvass, Events & Postcards!
Want to Help Get Out the Vote (GOTV)?
Canvassing is completed in phases: The first phase came this summer when we knocked on doors to have Persuasion conversations with our neighbors; then came Persuasion-Mobilization, just after Labor Day thru when mail ballots begin to arrive, convincing folks to get registered and to vote early by mail. So far, we have made 39,683 knocks.
Next week, we will enter the final phase of canvassing - GOTV. Our job will be to talk with those folks who said they would vote, or applied for a mail-in ballot (we keep track of this), to have a final conversation that reaffirms their commitment to vote and helps them make a plan.
We have been asked by our State Partner America Votes to canvass in Ward 9 in West Mt. Airy, then move to Wards 11, 9 and 17, in Germantown, Mt. Airy and North Philly - specifically targeting registered voters who did not vote in 2020 or are newly registered. We will be at the doors every day until Election Day.

Phone bank to get out the vote! Our canvassers have been working tirelessly to find the "infrequent voters" to get pledges to support Kamala Harris and the Democratic ticket. Now it's our job to call those voters and ensure they actually make it to the polls! Join one of our group phone banks, held over Zoom, on Friday, November 1 at 6:00pm or on Election Day November 5 at 1:00pm. Our cutting edge auto-dialer makes this work a piece of cake. New Play "When the Truth Comes Out"
Saturday, October 26th, 3PM, 6900 Stenton Ave.
A new play called "When the Truth Comes Out" will be presented on Saturday October 26th at 3:00 PM at the Unitarian Universalists of Mt. Airy at 6900 Stenton Ave and Gorgas Lane. The play, written by Terri Lyons and directed by Karen Smith, highlights the lives of 5 Black women who were essential in the civil rights movement in the 1960s and 70s whose histories have been erased. There will be a talk back after the play to invite all in thoughtful dialogue about what actions we can take at this time to bring change for a better future for all. The entrance is pay what you can at the door.

This Week in History
Oct 28, 1886 - Liberty Dedicated. Originally known as "Liberty Lighting the World", the Statue of Liberty was dedicated by President Grover Cleveland.
Oct 29, 1929 - Black Friday. On this day, speculators got called on stocks that had no real value, causing the stock market to crash, which led to the Great Depression.
Thanks for your activism!
